Valsoft is looking for a talented, versatile, and passionate M&A Director to spearhead our expansion into Italy 🇮🇹  
The M&A Director will work in an extremely entrepreneurial environment and will be responsible for building relationships with software business owners, brokers, and the like, with the ultimate goal of capital deployment and investment. You will be a full-cycle M&A professional with salesmanship and charisma for business development activities, but also have analytical and financial authority to manage and execute the due diligence process. 
You will be our first hire in Italy 🇮🇹 but will have the full support of our growing team of 30+ in Montreal, Canada 🇨🇦.  
This is an incredible opportunity to manage, invest and deploy large capital at an extremely fast pace in a new region. With the potential to eventually build, grow and manage a local M&A team.

Since 2015, we have acquired over 60 businesses.

As an M&A Director, you will: 
[Day to day responsibilities] 

  • Identifying M&A targets (generate $200M+ of buyable revenue opportunities per quarter) 
  • Deal origination (emailing companies, holding exploratory calls, meeting face to face with owners and sell side advisors) 
  • Evaluate and identify target acquisitions that fit Valsoft’s criteria and determine valuation expectations 
  • Conduct pre-acquisition due diligence (commercial, financial) in conjunction with Montreal team 
  • Negotiate deal terms (with support of Investment Partner you will, when fully ramped up, achieve $15-20M per year in acquired revenues) 

You will be set up for success if you have: 
[Skills & Requirements] 

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in either Finance, Accounting, Engineering, or another quantitative field   
  • 3-5 years' experience in Investment banking, private equity, M&A or corporate development, capital markets setting. 
  • Strong business development and financial analysis skills, including building financial models 
  • Fluent in English, Italian 
  • Willingness to travel (25% of the time) 

What would make you amazing

  • CFA or CIIA 
  • Familiarity with a buy and build model and VMS or software experience/knowledge 
  • Fluent in additional languages (German, French, Dutch, Spanish)
