About the role
As a part time Financial Controller you will guide financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies and procedures that guide the work of our bookkeeper, establish appropriate accounting practices for operations, support project financing and corporate debt relationships, support forecasting and accurate financial records all within appropriate regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate will have superb communication and attention to detail with a demonstrated ability to establish best accounting and financial practices to help mature a growing business.
What You’ll Do
- Work with the leadership team to identify areas to reduce spend
- Create and manage appropriate spending and forecasting information
- Identify and comply with federal, state, and local financial requirements
- Work with existing staff to review and monitor accounting practices
- Manage accounts and vendors for the office, lab, and facilities
- Work with the staff and leadership team with all third party accounting groups for taxes
- Work with leadership to understand and pursue financing and debt options
- Review coordinate quarter and year-end accounting tasks
What You'll Need
- Bachelor's Degree in Economics or equivalent experience
- Experience working within business operations and/or finances
- Familiarity with local, state and federal financial requirements
- A sense of humor
Bonus
- Startup experience ideal, startup mentality a must; the ideal candidate is scrappy and gets things done
- Accredited CPA
- Previous experience as a Financial Controller
- Experience with commercial project/debt financing
