Cloud Imperium Games is looking for an experienced Technical Development Manager to join our team!

This candidate will work in partnership with the Technical Director to cover departmental needs and global initiatives. Right person enjoys tackling diverse challenges while working closely with multiple stakeholders from various disciplines to influence change and reliably deliver results. Technical Development Manager will be driving global alignment and accountability within areas of responsibility throughout development organization.

This person will help deliver the requirements for the cutting-edge development of the record-breaking crowd-funded project, space-simulation FPS MMO “Star Citizen” and the action-packed cinematic story campaign game “Squadron 42” with its star-studded cast including Mark Hamill, Gillian Anderson, John Rhys-Davies, and Mark Strong (to name just a few).

Responsibilities:

  • Support the Technical Director of Content in all aspects of development
  • Drive and coordinate complex cross team global initiatives and programs as set by leadership
  • Own vendor relationships related to the department
  • Work with team leads to develop efficient work methods and pipelines
  • Work closely with the production team to ensure that department is aligned with key methodologies and initiatives
  • Plan time, resources and the organization for your area of responsibility
  • Facilitate regular cross-team meetings with remote developers
  • Execute direction, provide support and motivation to team members, making sure that goals and deadlines are achieved
  • Drive decision-making at the right time, by the right stakeholders
  • Ensure progress is tracked correctly on matrixed teams
  • Care for and protect the department teams where appropriate
  • Responsible for overall team health, and work systems of department and all the included teams
  • Accountable for dependency management and delivery risks management
  • and such other duties and responsibilities assigned by Cloud Imperium Games reasonably consistent with employee’s skills and experience

Requirements:

  • 3+ years in a management role within software/game development industry
  • Strong technical understanding and background
  • Bachelor`s degree in related field
  • Vendor management and outsourcing experience
  • Experience in leading complex global software development teams and programs using various methodologies
  • Deeply understand Agile/Lean principles and practices
  • Expert with project management tools (JIRA., Confluence, MS Office, etc.)
  • Skilled in risk assessment, management and scheduling
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong people management skills
  • Strong negotiation, mediation, and conflict resolution skills
  • High degree of initiative, self-starter, looks for opportunities to make improvements
  • Ownership mentality, results oriented, invested in outcomes
  • Strong work ethic and leads by example
  • Superb relationship building skills (locally & internationally)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to occasionally travel to CIG studios in LA, Texas and Europe

Pluses:

  • Master`s degree in related field
  • PMP, Prince2, Scrum, Agile and other relevant certification
  • Previous experience with Technical Content related work, practices and pipelines
  • CryEngine/Lumberyard development experience
  • Passion for games
